Marble Mountain Sprinkler Burn

Residential Sprinklers Work!

The Washington Surveying and Rating Bureau (WSRB) is pleased to have received permission to show portions of a video made by the Orange County Fire Authority.

"In 2004, Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) set out to demonstrate a point...residential fire sprinklers save lives."

The above quote is the opening line on the explanation of why this video was made. We think it says it all. Automatic sprinklers work. When viewing these two segments, note the time and temperature changes, especially at the 5 and 7 foot levels. While the fire is in one corner of the room, in not much more than a minute, the temperature at 6 feet is too hot to breathe. In the sprinkler protected room, this does not occur.

Your local Fire Marshal and Fire Authority are dedicated to saving lives and property. WSRB supports their efforts to protect the citizens of Washington State from the devastating effects of fire. We and they believe that automatic sprinkler systems are one of the most effective methods of doing that. It is like having a full time fire fighter stationed in your home, equipped and ready to work, all hours of the day and night.

For more information, contact your local Fire Marshal or Fire Department. For copies of this video, OCFA can be reached at (717) 573-6100.

The Washington Surveying and Rating Bureau is a non-profit property insurance rating bureau supported by your insurance company.

There are two video clips which will buffer to play in your Windows Media player on your computer.

The first clip demonstrates fire escalation in a non sprinklered room. (runs 4:11 sec).

The second clip demonstrates fire escalation in a room containing sprinklers (runs 2:15 sec).

(Depending upon your connection speed, the video may need several seconds to load).

If you are having trouble with the video, please contact the webmaster.
