The Plan Review department reviews building plans and makes loss cost improvement recommendations for sprinkler systems, restaurant hood and vent protection, automatic fire alarm and other fire protection systems. These recommendations encourage attention to fire protection practices and can help reduce insurance premiums. Recommendations are for fire insurance loss cost improvement purposes only, not for compliance with local codes or other requirements, and we do not review plans for buildings that are complete.

In general, we need the following documentation in order to review plans for fire insurance rating purposes:

  • A copy of the proposed fire protection system installation

  • Hydraulic calculations, if applicable, showing the proposed system design
